The Olympics in Lyonthe new home of Argentina Nicola Tagliaficoopened the French Ligue 1 with a hard-fought 2-1 win against newly promoted Ajaccio, who faced Peter Bosz’s side in a duel marked by the dismissal of Anthony Lopes, for the locals, and Romain Hamouma, visiting
Lyon have passed their first litmus test. The debut in the league, and even more so against a team that played in the lower category last season, is always dangerous. The lack of shot can favor the humblest and Bosz’s men, for fifteen minutes, saw the three points in danger.
With a few renowned signings – in addition to Tagliafico, Alexandre Lacazette and Corentin Tolisso arrived – Olympique Lyon wanted to show their cards as a candidate to wrest its hegemony in Ligue 1 from Lionel Messi’s Paris Saint-Germain only broken two seasons ago from Lille. Of the three reinforcements, Tolisso is the only one left on the bench. Bosz chose a midfield with Houssem Aouar, Johann Lepenant and Lucas Paqueta.
And, almost at the first change, practically half an hour later, he had to change everything and sacrifice a man to bring his substitute goalkeeper onto the pitch to replace Anthony Lopes, sent off after committing a penalty that Thomas turned into a Mangani goal serving. Ajaccio to close the gap. The sacrificed was Aouar, wanted by Betis, who left his place to Remy Riou.
Until that moment, Lyon was the master and lord of the fight. All happy at Parc Olympique Lyonnais with a brace from Tete, who opened the scoring after twelve minutes with a shot near the post that Benjamin Leroy failed to save. And, shortly thereafter, Lacazette opened his locker from the disk. The 2-0, in less than half an hour, heralds a very peaceful clash.
Howeverthe expulsion of Lopes changed everything and, in the last fifteen minutes of the first act, Ajaccio fought for a drawAnd. However, Hamouma saw his second yellow card and the race is over. Although Ajaccio went for the draw, Lyon pulled out their hierarchy and, without too much fanfare, managed to score the first three points of the season.
