You need to know how to measure Gustavo Coleoni before talking about height. He is technical director of San Micheal on First B and it is the same one who played hand in hand in a Copa Argentina final against River, as a coach of Central Cordoba in Santiago del Estero at the end of 2019. He directed seven provinces and four categories: Federal A, First, Second and Third Division of the AFA.
His path, with a few exceptions, far from the screens and close to the most traditional competitive football can think. He watches football almost constantly, but he also spends his time reading. Now she is with one of her by Eduardo Sacher – “I love it” -, which gives her continuity in bed every night.
Coleoni’s height is inversely proportional to the gigantic myth about the type of player who was not. When I was a teenager, the point was unanimous: it was he who would revolutionize Córdoba football, first, and that of Argentina, after. There was no one in Córdoba who did not wish the promise of the inferiors of laboratories a bright future. This – now we know – did not happen. “You are Toad, what happened?”, listening for his 20s. And he did not have, nor does he have, conclusive answers to conform to that recurring concern which, quickly, put him in the uncomfortable and unbearable place of giving explanations, almost like excuses.
The toad anchored at 161 centimeters, one more Massimiliano Moralezthat of Racing Y Velez who still plays in MLS. The height does not explain why the footballer’s predictions were not respected. His career is more than austere: professional in the first in Peru, in San Agustín, and in the second in Chile, in Magallanes. There he arrived on land trips, with the permission of the clubs of the League of Cordobain which he supported the illusion that accompanied him since he had the label of promise. but football that’s all for Coleoni and also the technical direction fed him, made him of everything. He was a taxi driver, studied journalism and was a football analyst on radio and television in Córdoba. He also studied sports training psychology and thus added a key aspect to his coaching career. The road to stardom – with injections just like Lionel Messi, but about 20 years earlier and with no results – did not exist. Instead, Ascent’s long and winding path has placed him in a place where he is no longer asked what happened.
-Today’s question is what happened to Coleoni, who after having directed in the First Division and played the Copa Argentina final against River now struggling against relegation with San Miguel, two categories below?
-My life is a bit like that, to get out, as they say, from the comfort zone and look for dreams elsewhere. All time. Right now I feel obligated to be the protagonist. We are a First Division coaching staff who arrived in San Miguel, which was the last one at Metropolitan B. We have a certain obligation to change history a bit. I think I have more to lose than gain and well, they really gave us all the comforts to rise to the occasion.
-No first club was interested?
-Yes, we had a chance: always from below, right? We said no to several B Nacional, waiting for Primera. But when we saw that the view in Primera was going to get complicated, and San Miguel was always there, we listened to the proposal. They came to look for me in Córdoba, they allowed me to work with all my technical staff and this is fundamental for me, as a matter of chemistry.
