Talleres had a campaign to remember in the Copa Libertadores, even if he couldn’t against Vélez, and was one step away from being among the best four in America. But this news has nothing to do with the result, but with a serious injury that occurred during the match. When the commitment was still tied and the “Matador” insisted on moving forward, Federico Girotti made a mistake, he fell to the ground and immediately asked for a change between the gestures of pain.

11 minutes have passed since the start of the game, and while some cameras remained with Leonardo Jara -even he was beaten-, the whole Kempes was attentive to the attacker. The injury was obviously serious. The forward who appeared at River could not support his right foot, and for this he retired with the help of two assistants. Pedro Caixinha, DT of Talleres, said the injury would be in the kneecap.

After the game, and with the elimination of his team already completed, Girotti himself confirmed this in a dialogue with ESPN: the injury was in the right knee. What emerged from the preliminary studies is that the attacker’s ligaments would not be involved and the injury would be a little less serious than it initially seemed. In any case, the official medical report is awaited in Córdoba.

The fans made him feel affectionate when he left the pitch to make way for Michael Santos. The ‘T’ fans, who took advantage of the stadium, applauded him. And so ended the passage of Girotti – and also of Talleres – to the Copa Libertadores. The striker scored minutes in nine games and scored one goal: against Colón for the round of 16.

And to add a little more concern, when he left the pitch, Girotti looked towards the bench and left the following words: “I made a ball”. After speaking of the serious injury was the Portuguese coach, who launched: “Apparently it was in the internal ligament. Then it looked like the kneecap. We have to wait for the studies.”

Now, as ‘Faith’ begins to focus on his recovery, Caixinha’s men put all their remaining chips into the Professional League, where Talleres barely adds 12 points in eleven commitments. The attacker raised the alarms and the networks filled with messages of support. If the severity of him is confirmed, this would be the first injury that leaves Girotti out of court for several datesat least since his debut in the First Division.

Now Talleres will have to look for a replacement for the striker, at least until he is no longer certain about the injury. The next match for the ‘Matador’ will be played this Sunday, when they visit Estudiantes de La Plata, who will play tonight for their place in the Libertadores semi-finals, against Athletico Paranaense.

Girotti in Cordoba and Zeballos in Salta

Difficult evening for Girotti, but not only for him. Along with the injury of the Talleres striker, Salta does not lack moments of concern in the midst of a match that faced Boca and Agropecuario for the Argentine Cup. It was a win for Xeneize at the very least. Those led by Hugo Benjamín Ibarra continue to advance in their title defense, but the most important news concerned Exequiel Zeballos.

The Boca youth, who has been one of La Ribera club’s high points in the last half, received a criminal kick from defender Milton Leyendeker and had to leave the pitch in tears. But unlike Girotti, Zeballos already knows the details of his injury. The studies were conducted in Buenos Aires and it was announced that he will miss the rest of the year.
