The Argentine Football Federation presented the new official ball that will be used in the Professional football championship and in the promotion categories. This is the Gotan Argentum. A ball that has a special message and also refers to an icon of the local football culture.

This new product has the identity of the famous ball Tangoused in Argentina 1978 World Cup Y Spain 1982. But in this case it has a new design, cutting-edge technology and a message in step with the times.

Shades of purple are used, the color that represents gender equality. The technical specifications speak for themselves. According to the official website of the AFA, this new ball has “SPEEDSHELL technology“.

This means that it is made of a “textured polyurethane leather with a new 20-panel shape, which improves the accuracy, stability and rotation of the ball in the air thanks to macro and micro textures, in addition to the counter-relief of the surface”.

Another important fact is that the Gotan Argentum It has technical similarities with the official ball that will be used from 20 November at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The new Argentine soccer ball, like the Adidas Al Rihlahas “the heart of the ball is CRT-CORE, which provides speed, precision and consistency in the most intense matches, while maintaining maximum form, air and accuracy in the rebound”, according to an official statement from the parent company of local football.

a private name

What does Gotan mean? A common use in River Plate jargon is to transform the syllables of words, thus forming new expressions. In this case, the name of the ball is actually the word “tango” pronounced at the “vesre”.

The name is not insignificant if we take into account that the current design emulates the “tango triads” used in the late last century model of the same name, which created the illusion of 12 identical circles that can now also be seen in the Gotán.
