“The facts are still unknown, but the people involved are currently collaborating with the police in the investigation, which we hope will be swift,” he added.

The Grenada Olympic Committee condemned the “barbaric actions” of Peters attackers, who returned to the island this week to be welcomed after also winning a silver javelin medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
“We are saddened by the news of the cowardly actions of about five people who physically assaulted our icon and national sports hero, “the Olympic Committee said in a statement.
The Committee’s report added that Peters’ attacks did not pose a risk to his life and called on the Granada authorities to take “decisive measures” against the attackers.
The opposition New National Party has also called for justice to be done and for such “acts of violence” not to be tolerated in the country.
On 24 July Peters had reconfirmed his world title in Eugene with a throw of 90.54 meters, relegating the Olympic champion, the Indian Neeraj Chopra (88.13) to second place.
