On 10 September Emanuel Ginóbili will finish establishing himself as a living legend of world basketball. The Bahian, four times champion with San Antonio, Olympic gold medal with the Argentine team Athens 2004 and retired from 2018, he will be inserted Hall of Fame of the NBA and will make history, because he will become the first Latin American player and the first Spanish-speaking player to enter that coveted and exclusive “club”. And who will accompany him closely during the ceremony will be none other than Tim Duncan, his former teammate spurs.
This has been made official Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in a press release, in which he published the list of shareholders who will present the 2022 Class in the consecration deed to be held in Symphonic Hall of the city of Springfield.
“Not a bad presenter … Thanks TD (again),” Manu celebrated the announcement, with a story on his Instagram account.

As explained, the election of this type of “godfather” is an exclusive decision of the new members. In other words, it was Ginobili himself who chose the American to share that special moment and fulfill, at least in part, the desire that Tim had expressed in the same induction as him, a little over two years ago.
It is that at the time of his presentation, in April 2020, Duncan did not forget to already dedicate some exciting words to the Argentine Tony Parkerthe other member of that unforgettable trio that marked the history of the Texan franchise, with the titles of 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014. And he predicted that his companions would soon follow in his footsteps.
“Looking to your right and left and having the same guys by your side year after year is incredible, a blessing that goes far beyond what I can put into words. Manu Ginóbili, Tony Parker, I can’t wait to see you up here and if I’m not there“, he commented, amid the laughter of all present, anticipating that his colleagues and friends would be the next to reach this exclusive award.
“It has been an honor to share the field with you. Thank you for everything, thank you for your friendship, thank you for the brotherhood, thank you for all the experiences we have shared,” he added.
Parker, who retired in 2019, will have to wait until next year to be able to enter the Hall of Fame. But Ginobili will receive that honor in September and will begin to realize Duncan’s omen, who, despite his words two years ago, will once again take the stage at the ceremony to accompany his friend.
