Shaquem Griffin has announced that he will remain dedicated to the NFL: he will work as an assistant to retired players.
The only player without a hand in the NFL, Shachem Griffinformer defender of the Seattle Seahawksannounced his retirement after four seasons in the league on Wednesday.
“Plan A has always been about helping people, Plan B was football. Plan A is what you should focus on, that’s what you went to school for, That’s why you get good grades and that’s why I made this decision.“Griffin explained in the announcement of his farewell.
To achieve that goal, the now 27-year-old former player accepted a position to work in the NFL legends communityin which he will help retired players and advise those who are active on the goals they want to achieve.
“My mother was a person who always helped someone and my father preached the same thing; plan B was always football. This is an exciting time to embark on a journey I’ve always wanted to be.it helps people achieve a positive mindset, “he stressed.
Shaquem Griffin had his left hand amputated at the age of four amniotic band syndromea congenital condition that occurred because her wrist got entangled with a fiber during her mother’s pregnancy, causing her hand to stop and be unable to develop.
The pain suffered by the child was so unbearable that one day he turned four years old he was discovered by his parents with a knife he was trying to cut his fingers with; doctors recommended amputation.
Despite this, his passion for football has led him to stand out, together with his twin brother, Shaquillat the University of Central Florida, where he had 195 tackles, 18 quarterback sacks, four forced fumbles and five steals.
These numbers earned him selected in the fifth round of the 2018 Draft from the Seattle Seahawks, the same team his brother played for.
In three years with the Seahawks, Shaquem appeared in 46 games as a component, mainly, of special teams; he had 25 tackles, one layoff and six quarterback pressures.
In 2021 he was part of the Miami Dolphins.
“I know the positive effect I am having on others. I’m talking about colleges and universities. I want to be able to do what dad always told us to do: leave the world a better place than when we found it.“He concluded in his farewell message.
