Valentina Barroso scored 7 goals at once.
Front Valentina Barroso marked this Friday seven goals in 40 minutes in the match that Independiente beat Villa San Carlos 9-0 on the seventeenth day of the Argentine women’s soccer championship.
The player born 25 years ago in Villa Mercedes (San Luis) has thus equaled a record that seemed impossible: what Juan Taverna established in the disappeared 1974 National Tournament.
Taverna then scored seven goals and his team, Banfield, beat Puerto Comercial 13-1. Unlike Taverna 48 years ago, Valentina Barroso scored all of her goals in the first half: in minutes 2, 7, 21, 28, 29, 40 and 41. The other two Independiente goals were scored by Johana Barrera.
“I’m very happy. It’s thanks to my teammates, without them I couldn’t have done it. I’m very happy and grateful.”, Barroso argued when the game ended in dialogue with DeporTV, the state channel that broadcast the game.
“Winning is something that will help us very emotionally to regain confidence. From the first minute we wanted to increase the intensity to regain confidence and think about what will happen,” he added.
Las Diablas, fresh from two consecutive defeats, temporarily occupies 11th place with 22 points, 23 behind leaders UAI Urquiza. For its part, Villa San Carlos continues in the relegation zone with three points out of 48 possible.
