Mathias Pogba, brother of French international Paul, was arrested by police along with three other people as part of an investigation into an extortion of the Juventus Turin footballer, French media reported Wednesday.

Mathias voluntarily presented himself to the competent authorities and was placed under police arrest, which can last up to 24 hours and is used to interrogate and verify the statements of a suspect.

The French prosecutor’s office announced earlier this month an investigation into charges of extortion with a weapon in an organized gang, kidnapping for less than seven days to facilitate a crime and participation in an association of criminals to commit a crime.

The case, which shocked French football less than two months before the World Cup in Qatar, was made public in late August, when Mathias Pogba revealed in a strange post on social media that he had had “explosive revelations” about his brother Paul, of the his lawyer, the Brazilian Rafaela Pimenta, and also of Kylian Mbappé.

According to Mattia, 32, his little brother Paul would have hired a sorcerer for years to put the evil eye on his teammate of the French team Mbappé. In his he videos on social networks, Mathias claimed to have proof of it without yet showing it.

Paul Pogba, who is recovering from a knee injury, denied the French investigators, while Mbappé said he had spoken to both Paul and Mathias and said he preferred to stick with his colleague’s version in Les Bleus.

Initial investigations suggest that people in Paul’s inner circle would have asked for 13 million euross, three of them ready for delivery, during a lock-up in an apartment with several gunmen presumably last March on the outskirts of Paris.

The blackmailers would have asked for that compensation for protecting the player for years.

The midfielder would have handed over 100 thousand euros and signed a document in which he promised to pay the rest. The harassment of the 2018 world champion would also extend to Turin.
