Boca: The opposition is starting to move chips ahead of the elections, although for now they disagree

Daniel Angelici doesn’t seem to be on the same line as his mentor, Mauricio Macri.

A year and three months after the Boca elections, the political climate has begun to shake. And not precisely in the privacy of Boca Predio de Ezeiza, where Juan Roman riquelme and they guide the sporting destinies of the club waiting for the end of the season which can find them with more Olympic laps to grow the management windows (they already have 4 titles and there are finals waiting to be played). The calm between comrades and barbecue makes it clear that the electoral race will only be in the last months of 2023. But the inside one started playing strong in the opposition. What happened?

In recent months it was Maurizio Macri who moved the chips before anyone else. And not only did he argue Andres Ibarra (confirmed his participation in an interview with Clarín) as his candidate in the next elections: his blessing generated a domino effect in much of the political arc that looks at Boca from the outside for the first time in more than two decades. But he also unleashed an internal offer that led to consequences. The reason? Which part of the CD was in the guide of Daniele Angeli has decided to participate and support other candidates. And so begins a race for 2023 with split opposition.

The first meetings and public appearances of Andrés Ibarra (65) found him with Royco Ferrari – vice president of Daniele Angeli, with whom he ended up estranged and after resigning from office he ended up “playing” in another list in the 2019 club elections, Horacio Paolini and surnames who were on the payroll led by José Beraldi, for now far away in his decision to get back into the game in club politics. First meetings that already separated the waters in other historical leaders, who hoped that Macri would take sides firmly only once the electoral race advanced.

After the appearance of Ibarra there was chatter in the groups that were part of the group of Daniel Angelici and the two-time president of the club It allowed those who intended to build not only against Ameal and Riquelme but also against Mauricio Macri’s candidate to launch. With an inevitable generational change, the appearance of the entrepreneur Mendoza Jorge Royale (from his space “Familia Xeneize”) attracted part of “angelicism” such as Diego Lajst (of the historic group “Boca La Causa”), Leandro Crespi (son of Juan Carlos Crespi) and also brought together old surnames of the club’s politics. In fact Reale began to draw limits with political foundations that also accompanied him Giuseppe Beraldi in the last elections and plans trips to Europe to begin its political launch in 2023.

The internal opposition now finds the positions of Mauricio Macri and Daniel Angelici as central shipowners of Boca’s politics. While the former try to build with the old club leaders, on the other they allow the search for the candidate who best fits them until the moment of “blessing” a surname. That is why both sides also try to add Mario Pergolini, who has already felt tempted by the idea of running for the opposition after being a running mate of Jorge Amor Ameal in two races against Daniel Angelici. The entrepreneur also warned some time ago that if the opposition is not united, he has little chance of winning.

Why did the former president of Boca between 2012 and 2019 not react to Macri’s movement with Ibarra? Because he has agreed to look for a candidate who can transform his mentor’s initial idea into club politics. And in that race there are not a few who have agreed to chase Cristiano Gribaudo in the last elections (he was Angelici’s candidate in the defeat against Ameal) but now they will not accept an imposition to “play” in these elections. And Reale (51), despite not having been part of Angelici’s management in any period, is the one who first joined that roadmap and added people to his space. He will not be the only one who will try to position himself to establish himself as a candidate of that opposition bloc.

Thus, while Riquelme and company have not yet articulated political signals for next year, the opposition debate has already begun. With two surnames as candidates for now. Will there be more? Will they end up joining forces? The long road to the Brandsen 805 election began.
