The cover of the new edition of the Odesur Games, published by Ediciones Al Arco.
The holding of the Odesur 2022 Games in Asunción, Paraguay, next October, will be the occasion for a new work by Ediciones Al Arco: a book updated by the best specialists in the country in which the information of all the editions produced to date will be collected and, moreover, it will contain an exhaustive appendix of the results obtained in the course of history by the Argentine representatives.
This new edition of the book, which will be officially presented on Wednesday 21 September starting at 19:00 in the Aula Magna of the Vélez Sarsfield club headquarters (Juan B. Justo 9200), traces and analyzes the history of the competition since the so-called Games Cruz del Sur (La Paz, Bolivia, in 1978; Rosario in 1982), up to the last edition of Odesur (Cochabamba, Bolivia, 2018); and discriminates the performance of national athletes in each discipline: the information collected is, therefore, permanent reference material.
The work will also collect and continue the work done by the specialized journalist Ernesto Rodríguez III, who passed away in September 2019 and who was not only one of the pillars of the label but, above all, one of the greatest and most passionate exponents of “Olympian” journalism.
With Ediciones Al Arco, Ernesto has published the first volumes of books dedicated to the Games of each Olympic cycle (Odesur Games, Pan American Games and Olympic Games), always with the collaboration of the National Secretariat of Sport and also of the AOC. The collection, in a well-deserved homage, will bear the name of Ernesto.
The Odesur Games Book is also part of the interpretation that Al Arco has made, since its launch, of the so-called “sports literature”: it is a great gateway to the world of books. The experience in this sense has been very productive: the titles made a few years ago with the Ministry of Education of the Nation have had an extraordinary reception in schools and teachers have found them a fundamental tool for promoting reading among children. And the books of the Olympic cycle made together with Ernesto Rodríguez have had a great reception among athletes, technicians and managers and feed the specialized libraries throughout the country.
