Barracas Central announced today their decision to sack the futsal team’s coaching staff, two days after their Copa Libertadores debut, for providing anabolics to the squad.
In a statement, the Buenos Aires club announced the expulsion of coach Diego Pela and his athletic trainer, Germán Testa, for having supplied the team with anabolic substances that could be banned in a doping control.
According to the text released by the club’s press office, this decision by the coaching staff was carried out “without the authorization” of the doctors and not even the authorities of the institute headed by Matías Tapia were informed.
The club, on the one hand, filed the corresponding complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Municipality of Buenos Aires and also had to disaffect the players (the amount was not communicated) who took these drugs.
However, Barracas Central has confirmed that he will participate in the Copa Libertadores organized by Conmebol, which will be played entirely at the Micro-stadium Malvinas Argentinas in Argentinos Juniors in the La Paternal district.
Barracas qualified for the international competition after winning the AFA First Division title for the first time in December last year.
The other Argentine representatives will be Boca Juniors and San Lorenzo, the last champion and the only team in our country to win the trophy.
The opening day will be Saturday 24 with Barracas Central against San Martín de Porres, from Bolivia; Boca against Cascavel, from Brazil; and San Lorenzo against SS Bocca, from Ecuador.
