Most of the incidents reported by users related to problems in sending messages, normal operation of the application, connections with the server and problems in the application website.

User reports indicate that WhatsApp problems recorded from 4.17 (our country time)according to the DownDetector.com page, which has collected thousands of alerts from internet users.

Soon after, WhatsApp’s parent company Meta (which also owns Facebook) confirmed the bankruptcy and indicated that it was working to restore the service “as soon as possible”.

In our country, at least until 5:50 this Tuesday, messages could not be sent or received via WhatsApp, nor was it possible to access its web version. Users confirmed that, after that period, the service slowly began to normalize.

Wave of memes with the fall of WhatsApp

In the networks, as usual, several memes quickly went viral through which users try to navigate the problem with humor.

Alternatives to chat when WhatsApp is inactive

When WhatsApp stops working, it is common for users to be overwhelmed with worries and frustrations, quickly looking for other messaging platforms so as not to lose contact with friends, family and colleagues.

One of them is Telegram, a messaging and voice over IP application created in 2013 by brothers Nikolai and Pável Dúrov. It promises greater privacy in the encryption of messages, facilitates better management of stickers and groups and among other features allows the use of messages that are destroyed after a certain time, without leaving traces.

Another alternative app is Signal, developed by Open Source Systems, the company behind the end-to-end encryption used by WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. It is open source, offers self-destructing messages, and prevents screen capture. Plus, it has encryption for all your backups, including chats, pictures, and calls.

Are also Discordbased in San Francisco and with over 100 million users, and known for its free service which mainly allows gamers to communicate via video, voice and text and Skypea Microsoft product designed for both one-on-one and group conversations.

Cell phones i phone, as well as the iPod or iPod touch, have their own messaging application: iMessage. From this platform and as a service offered by Facebook, users can send texts, photos or videos in the same way as WhatsApp.
