Local zones essentially bring computers and online services closer to end users: this translates into less latencyi.e. better connectivity experiences. The impact can be felt, at the end user level, in better speeds to browse services from giants like Netflixwhich are contracted by the AWS servers.

In February of this year they launched new locations in 27 countries, with Buenos Aires on the list. The company has servers since 2019 in the country.

“With the launch of the new AWS Local Zones from AWS to Buenos Aires, we are enabling our Argentinian customers to serve their end users with even lower latency so they can use the most innovative applications”, explains Juan Pablo Estevez, Head of Sales in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay at AWS.

“This infrastructure will help customers meet the performance requirements of the large number of high-performance, latency-sensitive workloads including real-time remote game clientsmachine learning inference, digital banking and live video streaming in the country,” he adds.

AWS is one of the tech giant’s most prolific businesses: its servers and online computing division is so big that when Jeff Bezos stepped down as CEO of Amazon, he took the helm of the company Andy Jassywho was a director of AWS.

Among those who will directly feel the impact are companies like OrangeX Y Toyotain addition to the public sector, such as the City of Córdoba.

“The launch of this infrastructure is a key milestone for our public institutions in their digital transformation program. We are committed to supporting Argentina’s digital transformation journey through continued investment in the country,” explained Lorena Zicker, AWS Public Sector Lead for Southern Cone.
