Taking advantage of his recent arrival Galaxy S23 premium mobile phone seriesthe company plans to roll out a series of changes to give its assistant more features, including one that will allow the clone user voice to answer calls independently.

It is not the first time that we have seen artificial intelligence systems capable of imitating voices, but it is one of the first in which a system of this type ends up being implemented in a service which, without having a user base as large as Siri or the ‘Google Assistant, is present in millions of devices around the world.

In addition to this future novelty, Samsung has revealed further improvements regarding the automatic response of its intelligent assistant. one of them will be Bixby text call which allows users to answer calls via text messages, which will be transformed into audio by Bixby for transmission to the caller.

It will also include more feature parity with the rival Google Assistant, such as the ability to start a workout through Samsung Health using voice commands. Obviously it will only be available in the Galaxy S23 series but in English.

Bixby can also perform “key commands” without being connected to the internet, such as setting a timer and taking a screenshot, all of which Google’s AI can currently do.

On the other, the services Microsoft and Amazon offer similar features powered by artificial intelligence.

Microsoft’s version is a simple VALL-E based text-to-speech feature and can even recreate emotional tones, while Amazon with its Alexa wants to provide its users with a communication experience that brings the voices of deceased relatives to life.

Another feature will be Bixby Custom Voice Maker, an even more curious feature, which allows the user to record various phrases to train Bixby, so that the assistant can create an AI-generated model of his own voice and tone. In this way, the assistant will answer calls by imitating the user’s voice.

This feature, which will currently be limited to the Korean language only, will also allow the AI-generated voice to be used in other applications besides the phone app.

This AI voice recognition model is not limited to Samsung’s scope.

In the past, companies like Google have already tried to implement similar features in some of their services. Duplex was a tool that allowed users to autonomously make calls and make reservations in establishments with a series of instructions provided by the user, thanks to the Google Assistant. However, the public has not fully received these enhancements, due in part to their low availability.
