Ever since Elon Musk took over Twitter, his first year almost over, and he was making crazy decisions, he always said, even if few believed him, that he was not the CEO of the company. Now, you have just taken the first step in this direction.

The billionaire announced in a short tweet that his role, from now on, will be to be CEO and CTO of Twitter. Musk has said for nearly six months that he plans to find a new CEO for the San Francisco-based platform.

The new CEO will take over from Twitter Inc., which will change its name to X Corp. in the coming weeks, Musk said. He also didn’t give the name of the next administrator and added to the mystery.

Details are, for the moment, scarce, but the billionaire assures that the new head of the social network will assume his role in about six weeks.

“I am thrilled to announce that I have hired the new CEO of X/Twitter. It will start in about 6 weeks,” he said in his most recent post.

In it, he tucked into what will be his future role in the company he bought last year for a $44 billion price tag. Mostly, it will be dedicated to monitor products and X Company software.

In mid-November, just weeks after buying the platform, he pleaded in a Delaware court that he didn’t want to be CEO of any company and that its function was transitory.

While testifying, Musk said, “I’m hoping to reduce my time on Twitter and find someone else to run Twitter over time.”

A month later, he posted a tweet saying that “I’m stepping down as CEO as soon as I find someone stupid enough to take the job.”

In February, he told a conference he expected to find a CEO for Twitter “probably towards the end of this year.”

True to form, about five months ago, he took a poll asking if he “should stop being the CEO of Twitter.” Many thought it was a joke.

Most people voted in favor of his resignation. Soon after, the entrepreneur announced that he would stick to the results, but not right away. “I will step down as CEO as soon as I find someone innocent enough to take the job!” he had said.

Since taking over the company, Musk has made several controversial changes. One of the first actions was to lay off a large part of its staff, including communications workers, programmers. Additionally, it has introduced changes to its website and mobile applications.

The blue verification check, which has long been synonymous with a certain prestige, has lost that precious status. Top advertisers on the platform have reduced their investment by almost 90%. And the social network is worth about half of what Musk paid for it.
