For example, fans of “Shadow and Bone” (a series of fantasy books written by Leigh Bardugo), for example, they want to prevent their favorite series from being cancelled. To achieve their goal, they started using an unconventional trick: organize viewing marathons.

This handcrafted trick aims to leave the repeating series in the background, hoping it won’t be canceled after season 2. This, according to some users, contributes to an increase in the number of views of the series, which in turn could prevent Netflix from doing so canceled due to lack of audience.

Curiously, this popular initiative for a massive and simultaneous viewing was started by screenwriter Mike Scullywho revealed to his followers that the future of the series depended on the number of views the second season receives in the first 28 days on Netflix.

However, there is currently no official confirmation from Netflix whether or not this tactic is effectivebut some users claim that they have managed to keep their favorite series on the platform thanks to this method.

However, the success of a series on Netflix must also be taken into account it depends on many other factorssuch as production cost, series quality, and audience demand.

Why were the series cancelled?

Sense 8, the series of the Wachowskif brothers, was canceled in 2017.

The concern about the cancellation of series on Netflix has been a recurring theme in recent years, especially after the platform canceled some very popular series such as “Sense8” or “The OA”. Fans of these series have organized on social networks to ask for continuity, but have not been able to convince Netflix to reverse their decision.

Although the streaming platform continues to launch new programs and renew some of the most popular, it should be borne in mind that the cancellation of a series is a business decision which is based on multiple factors and which is sometimes not possible to avoid.

Netflix isn’t the only streaming platform canceling its shows, of course. HBO Max did the same with “Westworld”; Disney made a similar decision with “Willow”; AND First video finished “Carnival Row,” though at least before it wrapped a second season to wrap it up.

In any case, the trick of leaving a continuously repeating series in the background can be a good option for those who want to show their support for a certain series; although in the end its effects have not yet been measured. At least, they feed the dream of increasing their chances of continuity on the platform.
