Apps to top up your SUBE card with your mobile phone: how to use them to avoid queues

Before making the payment, make sure you have entered the card number correctly. The minimum upload amount on many of the platforms ranges from $60 to $300, while the maximum can go up to $4,000.

The important thing is that, whatever the sum, to be recognized in the means of transport, it must first be recognized credited to the card. This is achieved by placing it in one of the automatic terminals present in the stations, or in a cell phone or mobile device of the passenger connected to the system via the Internet.

The best-known method that does not require alternative devices or charging stations is via the “Carga SUBE” app. Obviously only those who have a mobile phone with NFC technology (acronym in English for “near field communication”) and system can use it. Android 4.3 or higher.

For the charge to be effective, it is necessary activate the NFC mode of the mobile phone. The option generally appears in the same menu that appears from the “roof” of the screen, for example, to activate Wi-Fi or airplane mode. If it is not present, you must look for it in “Settings”, among the connectivity settings.

With your smartphone connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi or mobile data, open the Carga SUBE app, enter “Credits debits” and place the card on your phone, always on the back.

Then you will have to wait a few seconds without moving the card until the system looks for the pending debits of the SUBE card, confirms that it has been able to credit them and shows the new balance.

For all this, the Carga SUBE app allows, by placing the card on the phone itself, to instantly consult the current balance by pressing the button “View balance”.

In addition, with the “Cargar SUBE” option, it facilitates access to various wallet-apps with which to pay for top-ups.

Finally, the app allows you to credit the card with any arrears purchased by any means.

An alternative for those without NFC mobile phones is the app “SUBE Mobile Connection”. In this case the recharge is credited with an external device connected to the smartphone, tablet or PC with a USB cable.

Basically, this device is a SUBE small card reader which will allow you to credit an electronic debit made via home banking, applications such as TodoPago or Mercado Pago and ATMs. You can also check your card balance and see details of charges you’ve made.

To start using it, all you have to do is connect the player to your computer, mobile phone or tablet via a USB cable. Then, download the dedicated application from the Google Play digital store for Android phones and the respective one for Windows. Until now, iOS devices are not supported to use this service.

This device “Mobile Connection”, as they called it, allows you to validate up to 10 loads per day and not necessarily from the same card, so it can be shared with family, friends or work colleagues. In Mercado Libre you can get it from 16,900 pesos.
