The source code of GTA V, one of the best-selling video games in history, has been leaked

GTA V source code has been leaked and contains files GTA VI and more. Because of this, a lot of misinformation has started to spread about what this might mean GTA online, GTA 6, Bully 2 and other video games.

Late on Christmas Eve, the GTA V source code was made available to users for download, sparking much discussion on social media. Some versions claim it was leaked on an Xbox 360 modding Discord server. Apparently this is a person who has been sued by Rockstar on several occasions.

In September 2022, Rockstar Games was hacked by a teenager. He has published 90 gameplay videos of GTA 6 and has threatened to make his source code public, as well as that of GTA V.

The game’s source code is set in San Andreas it was sold and donated to some on the dark web more than a year ago. The hack cost Rockstar Games $5 million in damages.

Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive knew that this source code was in the deepest, darkest corners of the Internet. While it being a little more accessible to people is a blow to Rockstar and Take-Two, it’s not as serious an issue as many are claiming on social media.

Inside the files, they found Never before seen images of the RAGE engine, which Rockstar uses for its games. The images, however, give us an unprecedented look behind the scenes of several Rockstar Games titles. You can see early footage and assets from GTA V, Red Dead Redemption, and even the canceled Agent game.

There is also internal emails from Rockstar Games employees which discuss game development and release notes for RAGE engine updates. There are also many references to GTA V’s canceled DLC.

Some of them were seen in the leak scripts related to GTA VI. They include text strings that reference elements of GTA VI. Currently, There’s no reason to believe this will hurt Rockstar for GTA VI.

On Wednesday, just 30 hours after its release, the trailer for the long-awaited video game “Grand Theft Auto 6” (GTA) surpassed 100 million views on YouTube.

The trailer, also published by the creator studio Rockstar Games on the social network 12 years after the launch of GTA 5, the second best-selling video game in history.

The release of the first preview of GTA 6, scheduled for Tuesday, had to be brought forward due to a leak.

The expectation was such that the video surpassed the 60 million of views on YouTube in 12 hours, beating the record of the American YouTuber MrBeast.

The video has accumulated 9 million likes, but many have commented on the time that passed between the fifth and sixth edition of the game.

Hacker with autism convicted

This week the Rockstar Games hacker was sentenced. This is an 18-year-old teenager with autism sentenced to life imprisonment in a psychiatric hospital: Arion Kurtaj, member of the cybercrime group Lapsus$, was responsible for accessing internal information of Rockstar Games and video leak of the GTA VI video game, as well as the Uber hack.

According to Justice, Kurtaj was a key player in the group, which relied on social engineering (deception via phishing and other techniques) to extort money from affected companies in exchange for not disclosing the stolen information.

The group, made up of Britons and Brazilians, was responsible for unauthorized access to companies around the world, from Microsoft, Samsung and Nvidia to Mercado Libre and Globant in Argentina. Law enforcement officials estimate it caused approximately $10 million from cyber attacks.
