Developer Electronic Arts (EA) announced Monday that it is making a collectible role-playing game for smartphones titled The Lord of the Rings : Heroes of Middle-earthinspired by the work of British writer JRR Tolkien.
The tech giant has partnered with Saul Zaentz Company, which owns the adaptation rights to the novels, and partnered with director Peter Jackson for his two trilogies based on The Lord of the Rings at The Hobbit.
Heroes of Middle-earth will feature immersive storytelling, turn-based strategy games […] and a large cast of charactersEA said in a statement.
Players will embark on iconic conflicts from the world of Tolkien, and face the evil forces of Middle-earthcontinued the developer, who also promised cinematic animations and stylish pictures.
The first regional beta test of Heroes of Middle-earth will start this summer.
Note that this is not EA’s first attempt at the fascinating universe Lord of the ringsthe company that in 2009 released the game for seventh generation consoles The Lord of the Rings : Conquest.
