It will soon be possible to know in advance how much it will cost on a trip using toll roads. Google Maps has just launched a new function that displays an estimate of the total amount of tolls on a route to allow its users to choose their route more.
This feature, originally announced in April, is now available on select iOS and Android devices. It works on more than 2000 routes in the United States, India, Japan and Indonesia, but not yet in Canada. Other countries should be added to this list soon according to a publication from the American giant.
The application has already done so to avoid crossing roads with tolls by offering alternative routes, which will continue to be offered. Otherwise, it informs its users of a toll on the route, without specifying the amount.
This update includes a series of additions to the application, which have already begun to include the display of traffic lights and stop signs, as well as details of certain buildings when GPS is activated. These elements are now available on most iOS and Android devices.
