Seven years after being replaced by Samsung Pay, Samsung Wallet is back and combining several features to create a true virtual wallet for its customers.
The Korean giant made the announcement on Tuesday by unveiling a new update to its application, which can now store bank cards, but also cryptocurrency accounts and even the virtual keys of some vehicles and house.
These options are already offered by Samsung, but through other apps like SmartThings and Blockchain Wallet. The new version of Samsung Wallet interacts with them directly to combine all these elements in one place.
Korean Air flight airlines also allow saving of its plane tickets in the application.
Samsung plans to add some features to the app, including the ability to save IDs and driver’s licenses. These options were also announced last February, but no launch date has been announced.
The unified app will also include passwords saved in Samsung Pass. With this new service, Samsung wants to compete with Apple and Google, which already offer similar features. The new Samsung Wallet is now available on Galaxy phones in the US, UK and Europe.
