It’s official, Amazon is increasing the price of its Prime service in France, as in other European countries. With BFMTV, the company evokes financial restrictions linked to the increase in the cost of fuel and packaging. As of September 15, 2022, the annual subscription will thus increase from 49 euros to 69.90 euros per year and from 6 to 7 euros per month. There are three solutions to take advantage of the old price for as long as possible.
Subscribe until September 14
If this increase will take place on September 15, 2022, those who are not yet subscribers (or whose annual renewal is scheduled before this date) will be able to benefit from the annual price of 49 euros until the day before. By subscribing on September 14, Internet users will thus have the security of not paying 69.90 euros before its renewal, on September 14, 2023.
Unsubscribe (immediately)
Accused by the European Commission of having proposed a complex opt-out procedure, Amazon was forced to rectify the situation. Now it is much easier to cancel the service. If the expiration date is after September 15, 2022, it will no longer be possible to subscribe for an additional year at the previous rate.
In case of certainty regarding the option to unsubscribe, the easiest way is to carry out the procedure immediately, to avoid any automatic renewal. Since the services have been billed in advance, they will naturally remain available until the expiration date, even in the event of cancellation validation.
To unsubscribe, simply click on “Your Account” and then on the “Prime” tab. To the right of the renewal date, click “Update, cancel and more” and then “End subscription and benefits”.
Trigger an alert
In case of doubt about whether or not you want to remain a subscriber despite the price increase, Amazon offers, also in the account management menu mentioned above, the possibility of activating an alert three days before the renewal date. The platform will send an email to the customer. It can be accessed in the same place as the downgrade, after clicking on “Your Account”, then “Prime” and “Upgrade, cancel and more”.
