One of the great aspirations of the transhumanists it is realizing a physical evolution that does not depend on biology, but on technological resources. And one of the great challenges they pursue is digitize the brain not to depend on organic prison to extend life span.
Elon Musk assured they uploaded his brain to the cloud: It is not known if this is a joke or a real experience, as he did it to answer the question of the creator of Dogecoin, Shibetoshi Nakamoto.
In order not to lose the custom of what is already customary, everything has happened through his official Twitter account, in the midst of a complex instance, since the company initiated a legal action against the billionaire.
“If you could upload your brain to the cloud and talk to a virtual version of yourself, would you be friends?” Nakamoto asked on the social network, to which Musk replied with a concise one “I already did”.
The affirmation generated controversy and memes, as many assume that if such a thing had happened, they would have commented on it in advance and offered more details. Although there are others who believe otherwise.
What many assume is that the company neurological link is secretly working on this technology, because Musk once confessed to it this is the future of the human being. But since it’s in a testing phase, it’s not possible that its director has already tested it.
Furthermore, Nakamoto’s question focused on whether his followers really considered themselves “good people”, as it is a rhetorical question, in general, that is asked to perceive ourselves according to our actions and personalities.
Neuralink’s brain
Others understand that Musk was actually referring to Neuralink, the American neurotechnology company working on developing a brain-machine interface, founded with Max Hodak.
The company’s goal is to create a technology that can interact directly with the brain. The device would allow a computer to translate a person’s thoughts into action, allowing them to perform actions such as writing, just by thinking about them.
But, in theory, they aren’t advanced enough to upload full consciousness to the cloud. Furthermore, they do not even have the mandatory authorizations of the corresponding authorities. As Neuralink has not yet received approval from the Food and Drug Foundation (FAD)
Synchron, one step ahead
The company synchronized took a step up from Neuralink and began testing a brain chip implanted in a patient in the United States.
The chip was implanted on July 6 in New York and has a specific purpose: to allow a patient with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis to communicate using their thoughts. The Synchron chip is 1.5 inches in size and was implanted in the brain of a severely paralyzed patient.
The purpose of the device is to allow the patient to communicate, even after losing the ability to move, using their thoughts to send emails and text messages.
