About forty complaints have been filed against Crypto Gouv. The Internet user, whose identity is unknown, would have used his YouTube channel to promote investments in cryptocurrencies. His community has gone so far as to give him their own money, hoping for a return on investment. But at the beginning of July, the youtuber preferred to disappear.
The promise of great benefits
The Paris prosecutor’s office opened an investigation in mid-July and entrusted it to the Paris investigation section, France Inter has learned. The scam is estimated at 4 million euros. Some members of the Crypto Gouv community, which numbered 4,000 people, gave large sums to the youtuber, which reached several tens of thousands of euros.
Talking daily on Telegram or Discord with their subscribers, it took Crypto Gov only a few months to offer joint investments to their community. Promises of huge profits would have tempted nearly 300 people, that is, as many potential victims.
Crypto Gov quickly multiplied the groups and projects, arousing certain suspicions. But on July 9, the Internet user uses his usual means of communication to simply announce that he is leaving, taking with him an estimated loot of 4 million euros.
Since then, calls for surveillance have multiplied. On Discord, the CG Entraide server has opened mutual aid discussions for the victims of this scam.
