This is a risk that companies are now required to protect against. 54% of companies said they had suffered at least one computer attack in 2021, reports the latest corporate cybersecurity barometer, published by Cesin in January.
The health crisis has created fertile ground for cyber attacks. In a context of increasing teleworking, companies are paying special attention to cybersecurity. Especially since in 2022, the threat resurfaces again due to the Russian-led war in Ukraine.
“We are very fragile”
Quarterly results from Exclusive Networks confirm this renewed interest. In the second quarter, the whistleblowers of the specialist in the distribution of cybersecurity software have been released for the premiere of the million euro barre (1,027 million euro), in increase of 43% for rapport à l’ last year.
According to him, cyber attacks are becoming more sophisticated. Cybercriminals now use artificial intelligence or rent software to carry out attacks.
“Coming to maturity”
Pierre Boccon-Liaudet specifies that the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) creates many system failures. This has changed the attitude of companies towards computer threats. “We now know that the slightest defect can be an entry point for cyber attacks,” explains the CFO of Exclusive Networks. And to add: “The vulnerability is getting bigger. This is what gives direction to the protection that companies put up.”
Yet despite corporate interest and rising risks, industry players are struggling to recruit. “There is a shortage of 3.5 million cybersecurity engineers in the world,” laments Pierre Boccon-Liaudet. Exclusive Networks tries to remedy this through partnerships with schools, in France or in the United States.
However, the CFO of Exclusive Networks acknowledges that the sector is taking shape. “We are going to reach maturity, but the development is recent,” he points out, referring to the proliferation of consultancies or cyberinsurance.
Listed on the stock exchange in September 2021, Exclusive Networks continues its strategy of supporting cybersecurity software publishers. Present in 46 countries, the specialist also seeks to find cutting-edge publishers that provide the best protection. The company forecasts a turnover of more than 3,800 million euros in 2022.
