And for the occasion, Blue Origin once again used symbolism when selecting passengers. After allowing actor William Shatner, known for his role as Captain Kirk, or even Wally Funk, a pilot who had never been able to become an astronaut, to go into space, she is an adventurer on the well-filled lists who will fly far.

Explorers, entrepreneurs and videographers

Vanessa O’Brien, 57, will become the first woman to climb the highest point on Earth by climbing Mount Everest, reaching the deepest point in the oceans and venturing into space. . Before her, a man had achieved this feat: Victor Vescovo. He was part of the previous Blue Origin mission, which took off on June 4.

Among the other passengers will also be Sara Sabry, founder of an initiative to make space research accessible, and who will be the first person from Egypt to cross the space frontier. Mario Ferreira will be the first Portuguese to achieve this feat. This entrepreneur, president of Pluris Investments Group, is an athlete who has run the London marathon or participated in the Dakar.

Telecommunications entrepreneur Steve Young is the fourth person to participate in Blue Origin’s NS-22 mission. Clint Kelly III, for his part, is a pioneer of the autonomous vehicle since he had founded a project on this issue in 1984.

A price kept secret

The last passenger, finally, is none other than an internationally renowned videographer, Coby Cotton. Most notably, he co-founded the Dude Perfect channel, which became famous for hosting wacky sports challenges and has more than 58 million subscribers to date. Its headquarters have been bought by the MoonDAO project, which wants to “decentralize access to space”.

The exact price paid by passengers to be on board this mission is unknown, since the company does not make the amounts public. As a reminder, the flight should last, in total, about ten minutes from takeoff to landing of the capsule.
