The controversy over the directory of “practitioners” offered by Doctolib has not ceased. Questioned for a few days by doctors, the platform assumes the fact of offering appointments with people without any recognized training, such as naturopaths or hypnotherapists. On Twitter, however, he announces that he has put on hold the appointment of naturopaths whose training was given -according to his record- by Irène Grosjean and Thierry Casasnovas, two highly criticized personalities.
With BFMTV, confirming information from Parisian, Doctolib specifies that it currently has suspended access to 17 naturopaths, whose “training” section includes these two names. As L’Extracteur, a Twitter account (and a YouTube channel) that denounces medical misinformation, recalls, Irène Grosjean advocates unscientific or even illegal methods, even going so far as to suggest that parents manipulate their children’s genitals to lower fever. A practice that can constitute sexual assault on a minor, punishable by 10 years in prison and a fine of 150,000 euros.
For his part, Thierry Casasnovas, another figure in naturopathy, is being prosecuted for “illegal practice of medicine.” Despite the lack of medical training, it is notably at the origin of speeches that can push patients to abandon their treatments for certain serious diseases, including cancer. This has earned it monitoring for several years by the Interministerial Mission for Surveillance and Fight against Sectarian Deviations.
On Twitter, Doctolib invites Internet users to report any file that may correspond to an illegal practice of medicine. The company authorizes the creation of files for any Internet user who performs non-medical practices, after identity verification. A choice regularly criticized for the sometimes dangerous excesses of these “practitioners”.
