On August 16, the Facebook-owned “metaverse” Horizon Worlds officially launched in France and Spain. To celebrate this news, Mark Zuckerberg, head of the group, started a publication on social networks of him, which was quickly mocked by Internet users.
It appears there in its virtual version, with, in the background, the Eiffel Tower and the Sagrada Familia. Problem, the graphics in the photo are particularly simple, even quite childish, out of step with the billions of dollars invested in the project.
The Facebook boss took the taunts from netizens into account, and quickly responded with a post justifying the “simplicity” of the shot. The text is also accompanied by two images that are supposed to capture what Horizon Worlds can really offer: images that are, in fact, more compelling than the one originally published.
For now, only VR headset owners can go to Horizon Worlds. But the platform, now accessible to the French, does not yet offer any French translation. The paths for development, as indicated by the CEO of Facebook, will be discussed at the Connect 2022 conference.
