At a time when all headphones promise better sound and fairly similar designs, standing out isn’t always easy. A little-known player in the sector, Adidas has created an audio division to meet the expectations of its sports fans.
Adidas Headphones already has several products under its belt, including headphones, but also some headphones that look sporty enough to match the three-stripes branding. With the latest addition, the RPT-02 SOL, Adidas adds a little extra that will delight runners and even all users on the move: solar charging.
A recharge under all the lights
Because the headset simply advertises up to 80 hours of listening time. But it is a minimum. Because for this it relies on a patented technology called Powerfoyle. Designed with a material created by Exeger, this headband placed on top of the helmet allows to recharge with any form of natural or artificial light (we already found the company behind the Urbanista Los Angeles helmet launched last year).
Enough to even promise “unlimited” autonomy as long as a source is available to power the photovoltaic cells of the outer strip. Whether in sunlight or neon light, it charges in multiple conditions. To accompany this eco-friendly yet economical touch, the RPT-02 SOL is made from 51% recycled plastic (87% recycled PC-ABS and recycled nylon).
a sports helmet
The self-recharging helmet does not forget to be a helmet for all that. Adidas advances the intuitive controls of the headphones that will allow you to start a song, adjust the volume or change the title even while running or doing sports thanks to the integrated wheel. It has a button to activate the voice assistant of your smartphone, it works in Bluetooth 5.2 and it is charged through its USB-C port. It takes two hours to fully charge it, if you ever manage to get it flat.
THE RPT-02 SOL obviously announces an IPX4 protection index to resist perspiration and splashes, an essential measure for any athlete. On the other hand, no trace of active noise reduction in the headphones for outings in the middle of the street.
The Adidas RPT-02 SOL is available at a price of 229 euros. It is available in black or yellow.
