Just two days after its previous test and before US Vice President Kamala Harris’ visit to South Korea, South Korea’s military said on Wednesday that North Korea had fired an “unidentified ballistic missile”.
“North Korea launched an unidentified ballistic missile into the East Sea,” said the Seoul Chiefs of Staff, referring to the area more commonly known as the Sea of Japan.
Japan’s Coast Guard also confirmed that a ballistic missile could be launched based on information from the Japanese Ministry of Defense and called for attention to ships.
The North Korean shooting is the latest in a record number of weapons tests this year.
US Vice President Kamala Harris will arrive in Seoul on Thursday and plans to visit the South Korea-North Korea border.
