A hypnotherapist has been arrested in England for sexually abusing a patient under the influence of hypnosis. According to the BBC’s report, 58-year-old Ian Roper was sentenced to 2 years and 5 months in prison.

According to the Bradford court hearing report, Roper allegedly persuaded the woman to undress during a therapy session on the grounds that she was in a sunbed on a hot day. The case happened in 2018.

Roper admitted to having sexual intercourse with the victim without her consent, emphasizing that he was in a “safe” place.

When the woman awoke, the hypnotherapist tried to “put her back under hypnosis” so that she wouldn’t understand the violence she had been subjected to. However, the attempt was unsuccessful and managed to drive the attacker away.

“He said he used his voice to be under the command of the victim,” prosecutor David McGonigal told the court.

The Briton pleaded guilty, although he had previously denied the charges. During the investigations, police also found child pornography material, which Ian admitted to hiding images on his laptop.

Judge in charge of the case, David Gordon, said in his decision that the defendant was motivated by “selfish and sexual desires”. So Ian will have a sex offender record by 2032.
