State TV hacked in Iran

A group supporting the protests sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini in Iran succeeded in hacking a state television channel and broadcast the image of Ali Khamenei, the chief guide in flames, on the news.

The message of the state television newspaper, which appeared on the air on Saturday night, read the message “Blood is dripping from the fingers of our youth”. It was accompanied by a manipulated photograph of Ali Khamenei surrounded by flames and his head pulled out of the viewfinder.

A group calling itself Edalat-i Ali (Ali’s Justice) claimed responsibility for the cyber attack, which lasted a few seconds.

Authorities say Mahsa Amini died of illness

On Friday, Iranian officials claimed that Mahsa Amini died of illness, not “beating”.

However, Amjad Amini, the father of the girl, who said that her daughter was in good health before her arrest, denied the medical report in an interview with Iran International, a London-based Persian television channel.

“I saw with my own eyes that blood was flowing from Mahsa’s ears and neck,” he said.

Activists and NGOs claim that he suffered a head injury while being detained.

Iran accuses foreign countries, including the United States, of fueling the protests.
