Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will meet with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on the sidelines of a regional summit in Astana, Kazakhstan, on Wednesday, a Turkish official told AFP.
During the Ukraine-Russia conflict, Turkey maintained a neutral role and good relations with its two Black Sea neighbors.
Erdogan on Monday bombed several Ukrainian cities in Russia, killing about 20 people and injuring more than 100.
Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu called his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba after the attacks.
Erdogan met with Putin on the sidelines of a regional summit in Uzbekistan last month.
The Turkish leader is trying to bring Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky together in peace talks that neither side specifically wanted but Ankara said were necessary and realistic.
Despite being a NATO member, Turkey has avoided complying with Western sanctions against Russia.
