First, some context. The three-episode Movistar Plus series delves into the history of the Ummo phenomenon and how it has captured the attention of local and international media from the 1960s to today.

The Ummo phenomenon has to do with the existence of an alleged exoplanet from which the Ummite civilization would derive.

In 1966, a man named José Luis Jordan Pena, the creator of this phenomenon, claimed to have been the only witness to a UFO that flew over the south of Madrid. Decades later he would reveal it was all a farce.

The alleged sighting was very much in the media and caused a tremendous uproar about the existence or otherwise of the Ummites, so much so that despite the statements of Jordán Peña there are still groups of believers who trust in the existence of these aliens and communicate with us.

“Ummo what is it!”

“It can’t be! It’s a lie! Ummo exists!” they shouted José Luis Jordan Moreno and many more after the screening of Ummo. Contrary to what one might think, the “escrache” would not have been part of a promotional campaign.

Jordán Moreno distributed brochures warning of legal problems Movistar Plus may have by usurping its intellectual propertyas he claims to be the son and sole heir of Jordán Peña.

In the brochure, Peña’s alleged son asks Telefónica not to broadcast the documentary for “damage to the intellectual property of others before filing a complaint”.

“I am proud to be the son and co-heir of José Luis Jordán Peña, emissary of the planet Ummo on Earth”, the man signs the letter.

In a video by @rushsmith that circulated on Twitter, Moreno is seen accusing the documentary of being fake while many viewers, such as the man in the front row, can’t hold back their laughter.

In a Twitter thread where @soiafranchico explains the incident -and also shows the letter that Moreno delivered-, the Fotogramas journalist underlines: “Although the conflict, according to the letter, appears to be a legal question of rights, Jordán Moreno shouted that his sister Maite, also present at the passage, he ‘defames’ his father by stating in the documentary that everything was an invention of Peña, the true author of the alleged Ummite letters ”.

At the end of the video recorded by @soyfranchico, you can see how Moreno comes out of the room completely alienated and with cards in hand.

The official synopsis of the Movistar production states: “This three-episode documentary series explains what UMMO was, the impact it has had on national and international media since the 1960s and its consequences to date. A story in which, in addition to flying saucers, Nazis, sects, hypnotists and social control experiments were mixed.
