The debate about the Rede Globo will have almost zero interference in the final part of the election. Two days before the runoff, Brazil witnessed a shortened debate with many cuts and little talent for creating a reality that moves tectonic plates in the presidential race.

Former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) was in better shape than President Jair Bolsonaro. Lula had better control of the time bank and also knew how to set the agenda for the topic under discussion. In other words, Bolsonaro lost.

Initially, Lula cornered Bolsonaro, who promised to make a minimum wage of R$1,400.00 from 2023. But Lula knew how to put the president on the defensive and asked why he didn’t adopt an above-inflation minimum wage fix.

Bolsonaro tried to put Lula on the defensive with glue in his hand, but failed. Bolsonaro said the PT’s propaganda held him responsible for promising to end the thirteenth salary and overtime. Lula took a few blocks, but said the president should ask Paulo Guedes, Minister of the Economy and author of the proposals to withdraw workers’ rights.

Bolsonaro tried to break free from the stigma of a liar and fake news spreader. He spent the argument saying that Lula was lying. PT replied: “The Brazilian people know who the liar is”. And fixed: “Decompensated”.

At that moment Bolsonaro tried to go on a tangent. He repeated the false theory that he was being persecuted by the system. Noting that even TV Globo was against him, the President said, “The whole system is against me.”

Bolsonaro then tried to raise the issue of corruption. “People know who stole it,” said Lula, recalling the real estate lawsuit that was bought for cash by Bolsonaro and his family members.

Roberto Jefferson stepped forward. Bolsonaro tried to associate the former head of the PTB with Lula and said Jefferson was an informant about the monthly allowance. Lula noted that Jefferson was “his own gunslinger.” [Bolsonaro]”.

Another topic that was discussed was foreign policy, indicating that the agenda of the discussion was always dictated by Lula. PT asked why Brazil is being isolated in the world. Bolsonaro never responded, despite being interrupted by both sides.

The debate followed this line to the end. Lula was able to dictate what was discussed in the themes of fighting hunger, low-value frozen school meals, and performance in the pandemic.

Lula has apologized at various times and said that Bolsonaro is a president who does not say what to do. It was an efficient tool. In a boxing match, we can say that Lula easily won by points.

In his final words, Lula said he wanted to be “the next president of the Republic to restore harmony in this country.”

With the final word, Bolsonaro addressed the stabbing of 2018. He thanked God for “leading the country in one of humanity’s most difficult moments.” And the hymn about abortion, family, drugs, and communism is back. He spoke to the balloon and even requested that he be reassigned to the post of federal lawmaker, which he should never have relinquished.

At the end of the day, Lula got the better of the debate and should beat Bolsonaro on Sunday, according to reliable polls.
