An Australian family has dealt with the loss of their pet dog in an unusual way. They turned the animal into a carpet.

To preserve the dog’s characteristics such as skin, fur and size, they treated the golden retriever’s body with taxidermy – the same was used on bears that were turned into decorations.

Others were more direct. One user wrote “This is scary”. Another man was bolder and shared his desire to do something similar, but with his grandmother.

“I want to do this with my grandmother when she passed away. It would be nice to caress her while we remember her,” she said.
