An Australian family has dealt with the loss of their pet dog in an unusual way. They turned the animal into a carpet.
To preserve the dog’s characteristics such as skin, fur and size, they treated the golden retriever’s body with taxidermy – the same was used on bears that were turned into decorations.
The company responsible for the filling process in the city of Melbourne shared a video on how the carpet turned out via Instagram. “A beautiful golden retriever protected as fur for his family. Finally ready to go home,” the profile wrote.
The post received mixed reactions from social media users. One woman said the rug was beautiful, but said, “I couldn’t stand the pain of the lost dog who is no longer with us. I lost my dog earlier this year and I couldn’t imagine seeing him like that every day. He.”
