“I want to hug my son for the last time,” said the mother of the Brazilian man who died in a car crash in London.

The last wish of 46-year-old Rosângela Messias de Sousa is to hug her 23-year-old son, Guilherme Messias de Sousa, who was crushed to death during a chase in Brixton on Sunday (30). South London (England). Guilherme was the delivery man.

“I need my son’s body. I need to hug him one last time,” she told the BBC in an interview.

“I am devastated. My heart bleeds to know that my son died at work. He is a wonderful, educated son who went to London to work,” he adds.

The family is now looking for ways to transport Guilherme’s body, spy on him and bury him in his hometown, and rely on the mobilization of the young man’s friends.

Born in Petrolina de Goiás (GO), Guilherme lived in London for two years. Minutes before the end of his shift, he fell off his motorcycle and died after being hit by a runaway car. According to police, the vehicle was involved in a chase with another as part of a gang dispute.

It was reported that after the accident, one person jumped out of the car and fled the scene, and an attacker chased him from the second vehicle.

The escaped man, a rapper in his 20s, was shot dead by someone else chasing him.

Police are still investigating the whereabouts of the assailant, who is still on the run.

According to Rosângela, Guilherme loved living in London and her dream was to earn money for a better life and at the same time help her family.

“He was a respectful, hardworking, cheerful, smiling boy. I could never have imagined this would happen in a city like London in the first world. I can’t tell you how much I suffered.”

According to Rosangela, mother and son talked to each other every day. They spoke in the morning on Sunday, but Guilherme was working and communication was cut off due to the quality of the call.

“There was a lot of wind and I couldn’t hear him properly. He was working. It’s dangerous to talk while driving, so I said we’d talk later.”

This Monday (31), the Municipality of Petrolina de Goiás issued a note of condolence for the death of the young man.

“We sympathize with his family and ask God to comfort relatives and friends at this time of suffering,” she wrote.

Other victims-related incidents were recorded in London in 2022, although less frequently than in Brazil’s major cities, three of which occurred in July in a span of just six days.
