Eight embryos removed from baby’s body in a rare case in India

Eight embryos were taken from the womb of a 21-day-old baby in a rare case of “parasitic twins” in India.

“The initial diagnosis showed that there was a cyst or tumor under the diaphragm. We decided to remove it and we discovered eight fetuses during the surgery,” said the doctor in charge of the surgery, Muhammed Imran, in an interview with the press. India’s trust.

According to the medical team, the embryos were between three and five centimeters across and were all concentrated in a type of cyst in the child’s abdomen.

The rare condition of the newborn is known as a fetus within a fetus or “parasitic baby.” According to the British Medical Journal, it occurs when the malformed fetus grows inside the twin’s body, usually in the abdomen.

“Cases like this occur in one out of every five hundred thousand births. Scientific journals usually report a parasitic twin in most cases, but I’ve never seen so many births. [embriões] Only in a newborn”, the doctor said in an interview with the Times Of India newspaper.
