In a video posted on social media, a woman is seen eating a banana in a strange way. To avoid violating health regulations against COVID-19, she only eats after wearing a plastic hood to isolate herself from other passengers. The case was recorded in the subway in Wuhan, the capital of central China’s Hubei province.

Passengers are not allowed to remove masks while inside trains, as China’s regions maintain restrictions against the coronavirus. As soon as the unidentified woman finished eating the banana, she put the peel in another plastic bag, while it is impossible to see her removing the protection around it.

The passenger, who took the footage and identified as Wang, commented on the video in an interview with Chinese newspaper The Paper. “There are occasional coronavirus outbreaks in Wuhan, but I think this woman’s self-protection is a bit extreme,” the man said.

While the incident caught Wang’s attention, the passengers next to him did not react. One is concentrating on his mobile phone, the other is sleeping with his head on the rails of the wagon.

After the video’s backlash, the city’s subway spokesperson warned of the restrictions, according to the Daily Mail. “We would like to remind you that eating on trains is prohibited in Wuhan, as in other cities in China. We ask anyone who sees such a thing to call our hotline and our team will take care of the situation.”
