A 15-year-old boy decided to attach a USB cable to his penis to measure the inside of his penis. However, the prank had serious consequences and resulted in him going to the emergency room.
The case occurred in the UK in mid-2021 and has now been reported by health and medicine website Science Direct.
The incident occurred when, according to the young man, he was “curious” about the size of his genitals. The young man’s mother gave another version that it was a sexual prank and eventually inserted the USB cable of the cell phone charger into his penis through the urethra.
He panicked when he realized that the cable was getting stuck inside the organ, causing severe pain.
According to the news of the British newspaper Daily Star, the young man, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital and X-rays were taken and the seriousness of the situation was seen. The cable not only got caught inside the penis, but also made some knots and got tangled in the urethra.
The treating physicians reported the incident and the removal of the object from the patient’s body in a report published in Science Direct.
“The patient was a healthy, fit teenager and had no history of mental illness. Both ends of the USB cable protruded through the external urethral canal, while the middle portion of the wire remained inside the urethra,” they wrote.
Initially, doctors were unsuccessful in their first attempt to remove the cable. They used a metal rod to insert into the boy’s genitals and remove the object, but the knot made by the cord made this method impossible.
So the doctors decided to look for a more delicate alternative to removing the cable. They had to make an incision in the area between the genital area and the anus so that they could reach the handle from below.
“A longitudinal penoscrotal incision was made on the body and a careful dissection of deeper tissues was performed, the bulbospongiosus muscle was separated. Both ends of the wire were successfully withdrawn from the external urethral meatus.”
Despite the painful and complicated method, the surgery was successful and the young man managed to fully recover.
The doctors also discovered that while talking to the mother, the child was using the handle in his private part as a kind of sexual experiment.
“Sexual experience and satisfaction, as well as underlying mental disorders, are considered major causes of object insertion into the urethra and bladder,” they wrote in the report.
