Officials from the US Transportation Security Agency (TSA) stopped a bizarre smuggling attempt at Florida’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport yesterday. The official explained that during a routine inspection, he found a firearm hidden inside a raw chicken.
TSA’s official page shared images of the event on Instagram. The chicken slang post mentions Thanksgiving, a traditional American holiday that always takes place in the last week of November. It is common for the family menu these days to include some roasted poultry such as turkey or chicken.
“As Thanksgiving approaches, the plan gets intensified. It’s time for us to thank our officers for always working around the clock to keep you safe. Take, for example, this ‘can you believe it’ item located in Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport” His profile is on the air.
Next, the agency ironically comments on the bizarre smuggling attempt. “We hate to tell you this here, but sticking a gun in your holiday meat for travel is a waste of time. The idea was not even halfway there; it was raw, greasy, and obviously made unsupervised. It’s this poorly chosen packaging that’s going to burn here!”.
Finally, the profile warns: “Whether you like it or not, there are rules for traveling with guns and ammo. So don’t make it up, check the appropriate packaging information at the link on our page.” The TSA provides instructions on its website on the correct ways to store and transport items such as firearms and raw meat when traveling by plane in the US.
However, the Agency did not disclose whether any suspects were identified or arrested for the smuggling attempt.
