A curious and even frightening video shows the moment a giant octopus ‘hugs’ a diver in Canada. The lucky one is the teacher Andrea Humphreys. He says he decided to dive with his friends in the waters of the Salish Sea off the east coast of Vancouver Island, and were surprised to discover a giant octopus after submerging within three minutes.
It’s a giant cephalopod, according to The Guardian.
“People say it’s dark and dreary in here. But when there are lights you see all the colors of the rainbow. It’s amazing. I’ve done over 675 dives and I think it’s one of the best dives in the world.” Andrea. Humphreys.
Also, according to Andrea, the octopus showed interest in the diving equipment and camera for 40 minutes. “Every time I got away, the octopus kept coming towards me. It was very surprising and inspiring.”
The teacher, who was happy with the giant octopus, shared the video with his followers. It got thousands of views in just a few days. On a recent trip to the supermarket, she was stopped in the aisle when someone saw the “octopus lady.”
He suspects part of the video’s popularity stems from the rare moment he captured, which he says “provides a close and unlikely connection with a creature that often appears alien.”
