Connecticut Judge Barbara Bellis ruled that Alex Jones’ conduct was “willful and malicious”.

Jones, owner of Infowars website, said that the family members of the students and staff killed at Sandy Hook High School in Connecticut in 2012 were actors and that the massacre was perpetrated by people who opposed firearms. This conspiracy theory went viral on the internet.

The presiding judge wrote that Jones had conducted “attacks against whistleblowers in the course of the proceedings against whistleblowers for nearly a decade, including odious, malicious and unwarranted conduct that harmed whistleblowers” with the Free Speech Systems company.

Therefore, he ordered Jones to pay more than $473 million in damages.

In October, a jury in Waterbury, Connecticut, ordered Jones to pay $965 million to family members of eight Sandy Hook victims and an FBI agent who filed a defamation lawsuit against Jones.
