A Brazilian woman studying medicine in Bolivia was found dead after falling from her apartment on the 6th floor of a building. Mariana Sousa Bustamante, 21, was finishing her third year at Unifranz College in Cochabamba.
The body was found in the courtyard of the apartment in the early hours of Monday (7), but the young woman’s family claimed the student had bruises on his face and arms, prompting the investigation to look into a possible murder, according to EPTV.
Mariana shared the flat with two other colleagues, also Brazilians. In their statements, the couple stated that they left the young woman alone at home to go to the party on Sunday night (6). When they returned around 3 o’clock, they found the balcony door open and found the student lying in the courtyard.
Bolivian police even detained the young woman’s co-workers, but they were released after the first alibi check, according to the TV Globo member. The Brazilian’s mother, Juliane Benevenuto, claimed that she made a video call with her daughter the day before her death and appeared happy and excited after she applied to work at the Bolivian Red Cross.
He also used social media to talk about Mariana’s death and thanked her family for the messages sent. Relatives managed to reach the goal of paying for the transfer of the body of the student who came to Hortolândia (SP), where he will be buried this morning, with crowdfunding.
“I want to thank many of you for the prayers, words of comfort, love and care that you have shown our family members. (…) Mariana was a happy girl who infected everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. Today leaves us a lot of nostalgia and good memories because she was my daughter ILLUMINATED, now she is an angel in Heaven and from there she will take care of us all,” the woman wrote in tribute.
