Donald Trump will announce his next Tuesday candidacy for a new presidency in the United States in the elections to be held in 2024, Jason Miller, a close adviser to the former head of state for a long time, said on Friday.
The former president, who he will be 78 years old when the next elections are held, he has long hinted that he will seek a new mandate. He’s slipped it several times, including while campaigning for Republican candidates ahead of this week’s midterm elections, saying he’ll make a “very important announcement” Tuesday.
“President Trump to Announce Tuesday He’s Running for President”Miller told former Trump adviser Steve Bannon on his popular podcast Hall of War.
Furthermore, he emphasized that “it will be a very professional announcement, very understated”.
Miller said Trump assured him, “There shouldn’t be any questions, of course I’ll run.”
Trump’s big announcement in Florida will come after a disappointing run of several candidates he endorsed in Tuesday’s midterm elections. As if that weren’t enough, in that state he won re-election as governor who aims to contest the presidential candidacy for the Republican Party, Ron DeSantis.
On the other hand, an expected Republican “red wave” did not materialize and the party achieved a much smaller victory than expected in the inflationary context that the country is experiencing.
Noting the party’s disappointing result in the midterm elections, The Wall Street newspaper published in an op-ed Thursday that “Trump is the Republican Party’s biggest loser.”
Trump’s early entry into the race appears designed in part to fend off potential criminal charges for his appropriation of top-secret White House documents, his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, and the attack on the US Capitol by his supporters on January 6 last year.
He may also be intent on undermining his main potential rival for the Republican presidential nomination, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who emerged as a major winner in Tuesday’s election.
On the other hand, in recent days Joe Biden himself has expressed his willingness to seek a possible re-election, which could repeat the duel that the Democrat won in 2020.
