“The Watcher” became the series Netflix which dethroned the success of ‘Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’, being the most watched program on the platform. Both series are from the same producer, Ryan Murphy, who has proven that he’s not afraid to tell stories about psychopaths as he never stops outdoing himself in the ratings.
Its premiere hit No. 1 on the streaming platform’s charts just one week after its release, reaching No. 125.01 million hours displayed in the list in English.
“That moment when your new show replaces your other show as the #1 show in America,” proudly wrote Murphy, who is behind these two Netflix series and to make matters worse, he’s also the producer of “The Phone by Mr. Harrigan “one of the films that is in the top 10 most appreciated in the catalog.
Netflix series synopsis: The Watcher
The Observer (or El Vigilante in Spanish), shows the terrifying story of a true crime that happened in 2014. The story follows the Brannock family as they move to an idyllic suburb in New Jersey, where they are greeted with a frosty welcome by their new neighbors. Upon their arrival, things take a sinister turn when they start receiving threatening letters from someone calling themselves The Watcher.
With the increasing number of threats from their titular stalker and the cold treatment of their neighbors, the family’s paranoia continues to grow as they try to figure out who is trying to turn their dream into a nightmare. No further details regarding the release date and storyline of the second season have been announced at this time.
The series also featured an impressive cast, starring Bobby Cannavale and Naomi Watts as Dean and Nora Brannock, respectively. Rounding out the cast for the seven-episode series are Jennifer Coolidge, Mia Farrow, Margo Martindale, Terry Kinney, Joe Mantello, Richard Kind, Noma Dumezweni, Christopher McDonald, Michael Nouri, Isabel Gravitt, Henry Hunter Hall, and Luke David Blumm.
