Iran Human Rights, a non-governmental organization headquartered in Oslo, Norway, said on Saturday (12) that at least 326 protesters have died as a result of the suppression of the protest movement that has shaken Iran since September.

Iran has been the scene of demonstrations since the September 16 murder of 22-year-old Iranian Kurd Mahsa Amini, who was detained by the morality police three days ago for allegedly violating the Islamic republic’s strict dress code.

The protest, born of opposition to dress restrictions on women and outrage over the death of the young woman, has turned into a movement targeting the theocracy that has been in power since the 1979 Islamic revolution.

“At least 326 people, including 43 children and 25 women, were killed by security forces in demonstrations across the country,” the UST said on its website.

The UST points out that it has not yet disclosed the “many reported deaths” as they are still in the verification phase.

The last balance sheet of the non-governmental organization announced a week ago was 304 deaths. The IHR estimate includes at least 123 people killed in the Sistan-Baluchistan province (southeast) bordering Pakistan.

More than 90 people died between them on September 30, dubbed “Bloody Friday” by protesters.

A demonstration was held that day in the capital city of Sistan-Baluchistan, Zaedan, to protest the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl in the port city of Chabahar by a police officer.

IHR Director Mahmod Amiry Moghadam urged the international community to take action to end the repression in Iran.

hunger and thirst strike

Hossein Ronaghi, who is also on hunger strike this Saturday and is an imprisoned freedom of expression advocate, announced that he will stop drinking liquids from tonight.

Ronaghi, 37, was arrested in September for criticizing the government’s crackdown on demonstrations over Mahsa Amini’s death. The activist even asked permission to leave prison for health reasons, but her request was denied.

“She told me she’s had a few seizures lately. Today her blood pressure [sanguínea] He fell a lot and even lost consciousness,” his brother Hassan wrote on Twitter this Saturday.

Hassan added that his request to be released from prison was denied despite his “critical” health condition. Hussein said that he will stop drinking water from tonight.
