Pope Francis asked the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP27, held in Sharm el-Sheikh this Sunday (13), to make “bold” decisions to face the environmental crisis.
“I would like to remind once again the COP27 summit on climate that took place in Egypt. I hope that forward steps will be taken with courage and determination on the path followed by the Paris Agreement,” said the Pope. Vatican.
The Paris Agreement entered into force in November 2016 with the aim of decarbonising world economies and limiting the increase in global average temperature to levels below 2ºC above pre-industrial levels.
Today, Jorge Bergoglio also remembered the first anniversary celebrated this Monday of the “Laudato Si” platform, which promotes “ecological transformation and lifestyles consistent with it” (14).
The priest thanked “everyone who participated in this initiative, about 6,000 participants”, including families, associations, companies, religious, cultural and health institutions.
