Speaking by video conference with the summit underway in Bali, Indonesia, Zelensky also referred to the Russian withdrawal from the city of Kherson. And he described that event as “D-Day,” alluding to the Normandy landings in WWII.

Zelensky said the recapture of Kherson “reminds many past battles, which have become turning points in past wars.”

“It is, for example, like D-Day, the landing of the allies in Normandy. It was not yet a point of arrival in the fight against evil, but already determined the entire future course of the events. This is exactly how we feel right now,” she said.

The recapture of Kherson was one of Ukraine’s biggest successes in nearly nine months of the Russian invasion, and it dealt another major blow to the Kremlin.

the ten points

In his message to the G20, Zelensky called for the creation of a special court to try soldiers and politicians for the crime of aggression against Ukraine, as well as for the creation of an international mechanism to compensate Kiev for the war’s deaths and destruction. And he presented a ten-point plan to achieve peace.

Establishes:

First “nuclear safety”, after “food security” and third “Energy Security”.

“The fourth challenge is the release of all prisoners and deportees“, He added.

In the fifth, “the implementation of the Charter of the United Nations and the restoration of the the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the world order“.

“The sixth challenge – underlined the Ukrainian president – is the withdrawal of Russian troops and the cessation of hostilities“.

The seventh is do justice. “We have already proposed a UN General Assembly resolution on an international compensation mechanism for the damage caused by the Russian war,” she recalled.

In the eighth point Zelenski denounces the “ecocide” caused by the Russian invasion and underlines “the need to immediately protect the environment”

as the ninth point defends the prevention of escalation, “a risk that still exists and will remain until our safety is duly guaranteed. Ukraine is not part of any alliance. And Russia was able to start this war precisely because Ukraine remained in the ‘grey zone’ between the Euro-Atlantic world and Russian imperialism.”

Finally, asks Zelensky “confirmation” of the end of the war.

“When all anti-war measures have been implemented, when security and justice begin to be restored, the parties will have to sign a document confirming the end of the war.”
